Motor Group Shares Video To Defog Windscreen Faster
Snow has recently battered large parts of the UK, so motorists up and down the country will have sat in their freezing cold cars waiting for the windscreen to defog. As any driver will attest to, this is not a pleasant experience!
Thankfully, some nifty YouTubers have shared a video explaining a simple hack to clear the mist and fog “twice as quickly”, to get you on your way in double quick time!
Although many people automatically press their windscreen demister button or turn on the air conditioning to remove any mist on the glass, experts at the Swansway Motor Group have shared a clever alternative that will see your windscreen cleared in next to no time.
So what is this mystery trick then? Well, while it might be effective, you may be surprised at just how simple it is. You see, the motor group suggests simply cranking up your air conditioning as this will "reduce condensation" quickly.
And for owners of older vehicles or those with a broken air-con unit, simply rolling with windows down will do the trick.
In the YouTube video, Sam, a spokesperson for the group, suggested the tip is likely more effective than the methods you’re used to trying.
He explained: "No air conditioning, well that's not a problem. Some vehicles don't come fitted with air conditioning or the feature is broken or disconnected. To remedy this simply roll down all of the windows within the car.
"This allows all of the cold and dry air to flood into the vehicle, helping to reduce the condensation and getting you on your way twice as quick."
According to the Daily Mirror, Halford’s – the UK’s leading provider of vehicle servicing and repairs – confirmed the method does indeed help windows defog faster, while adding an additional piece of advice.
It sid: “While your car is demisting, stand outside of it. Your breath is warm and wet which will not help the process. However, don't leave the car unattended with the keys inside, as this is an opportunity for thieves to steal your car."
Windscreen Cover
This clever tip could save us all some time in the morning, meaning less time spent in our sub-zero car waiting for our windscreen to defog! So be sure to remember this vehicle hack.
Speaking of things to remember, be sure not to forget your windscreen cover, too, as not having any protection could mean you’re forced to pay for a replacement in the event your glass is damaged.
The cost of repairing a windscreen can differ depending on the make and model of your car, as well as the severity of the damage. For most full windscreen replacements you could be looking at a bill that runs into the hundreds or potentially even thousands of pounds.
Car windscreen insurance cover is a great way to protect yourself against this. Purchasing windscreen cover means you can drive your vehicle with peace of mind that if anything goes wrong and your car sustains any damage, you can get it fixed in a timely and cost-effective fashion.
